The aim of this campaign is to raise awareness of "safety at the door" with primary school children (target group year 6), their parents, grandparents and carers.
During the school year 2008 – 2009, the campaign was piloted in 70 schools across Wigan and Bolton, with Police Community Support Officers jointly delivering lessons with year 6 teachers. Click on the poster competition to see poster designs produced by the children as part of our pilot project.
Following the success of this campaign, we have now developed this mini website to provide information and resources to enable schools to continue to teach children about the importance of doorstep safety. Teachers can either use the lesson plan and PowerPoint provided, or choose any of the activities and resources available on the site.
Links are also provided on this website should teachers require further background materials informing them of national campaigns aimed at people of all ages to reduce bogus callers and doorstep crime.
